How to Glue Press On Nails
How to Apply Press-On Nails Like a Pro (That’s You, Babe)
So, you’ve got your dreamy Aloha Cowgirl set in hand—now it’s time to bring those nails to life! Whether you’re getting glam or keeping it classic, proper application is the key to a long-lasting, flawless mani. Let’s walk you through the glue-on method step-by-step so you can press, slay, and ride off into the sunset.
What You’ll Need:
-
Your Aloha Cowgirl press-ons (obvi)
-
Nail glue
-
Cuticle pusher
-
Nail file and buffer
-
Alcohol wipe or acetone
-
A lil’ patience and good lighting
Step 1: Prep Is Everything
Start with clean, dry nails. Remove any polish or oils with an alcohol wipe or acetone. Then, gently push back your cuticles and lightly buff the surface of your natural nail. This helps the glue grip better and keeps your press-ons lasting longer.
Step 2: Add Grip (This is the secret sauce)
Apply a thin layer of glue to each natural nail and let it dry completely. Then, lightly file over that layer to create a textured surface. This gives the next layer of glue something to grip to—and seriously helps your set stay put.
Step 3: Fit + File
Your nails are custom-sized just for you, but if one feels slightly wide, no worries—you can gently file the sides of the press-on for a perfect fit. Lay them out in order (thumb to pinky) before gluing to make application super smooth.
Step 4: Time to Glue
Apply a thin layer of glue to your natural nail. You can also add a little bit to the back of the press-on for extra hold—just don’t overload it.
Step 5: Press + Hold
Align the press-on with your cuticle (but not on top of it) and press firmly for 15–30 seconds. Make sure there are no air bubbles and the nail is secure.
Step 6: Let It Set
Avoid water, oils, and lotions for the first 1–2 hours to let the glue fully cure (we like to apply before bed to give them extra time). After that? You’re good to go, cowgirl.
